I suspect Africa's other major problems, many of them, are related to having so many religious nutjobs. The U.S. sure did more than its share to import batshit religious ideas to many African nations. Yay team?

Africa has lots of strange religions. My ex-wife came out of Legio Maria. Her grandfather was a Bishop in that religion and now that he is dead they call him a Saint. Simeo Ondeto was the black Jesus and the religion is loosely based on African Luo customs, Catholicism, and Pentecostalism. I'm not sure of their mask wearing beliefs but some of my ex-wife's relatives are reporting to me that they are wearing masks now. Just like in America, it would not be surprising to find them wanting to "pray it away."
