My born again Christian younger brother made me promise I'd watch a film called Atheist Delusion by Ray Comfort. I did watch it, and it's a perfect example of the kind of manipulative garbage modern evangelicals traffic in. I would recommend everyone watch it as a learning experience, to see the kind of crap Christianity to putting out there. Notice when the major key inspirational music starts, and how it swells at just the right times to try to influence your emotions. It mirrors a typical evangelical worship service.
Ray isn't going to convert any scientists. He uses a simplistic analogy for genetic complexity, "can a book make itself?" and casts some dispersions at real scientists, "what would you think of the intelligence of someone who thinks a book can make itself" or "... DNA happened by accident?" and then surveys his dupes on the street with these leading questions (no offense to the college students and others interviewed, who he never really engages in any meaningful critical analysis). And that's his argument. The atheist scientist he interviews uses an analogy of a complex snowflake formed by nature. And Ray runs away (as fast as he can) with that analogy - "but a snowflake doesn't contain INFORMATION like DNA does!" Aha, gotcha, scientist! Creationists are fond of analogies. But scientific evidence isn't refuted by analogies.
Tell me Ray 'Comfort" isn't his real name.
Sorry, but I could not help myself but laugh at your words. (Yes, my sense of humour is somewhat off-the-wall.)
@anglophone If your humour is off the wall mine is mortuary humour. I can deadpan the most outrageous statements in the most inappropriate settings. . Best not to sit beside me at a funeral. I tone it down here for our very literal American friends.
@MsDemeanour Humor at funerals is so under rated! As is humor in the most inappropriate moments.
How did classroom settings go? My home room teacher once put me at a desk out in the hall, to many comments/talking.
Afraid so
Having perused the comments I think I'll pass on a Ray Comfort film. My twin is a Christian, a Movement Conservative republican AND only gets her news from fox, oann or newsmax. Qanon is also on her radar.
True believers think they have a good bead on things and refuse to accept rational ideas or facts.
The far right religious have become deeply involved with government policy and in some cases hijacked our government. That is becoming serious issue. IMHO
I think Gates, Buffet and Musk should buy out the IDIOTA News agencies and restaff them with REAL REPORTERS. If the companies are "Publically Traded" then they are "vulnerable"...money talks and BS walks...buying them out would be a drop in the bucket for the three powerhouse Billionaires.
Had a DM/discussion with my born again xtian friend as well, who when i mentioned for him to read "The God Delusion" he made notes with proposed questions and comments on our chat, titled "The Atheist Delusion."
He has SO many easy to refute points, it's no wonder they call it "born again" because you have to have the mind of a child that can be easily manipulated to believe the fairy tales."
The "God made the Banana" thing.
Kirk Cameron is the nothing behind the eyes former star I was thinking about.
He obviously has no idea that most foods he eats were genetically modified to be not only edible but something you want to eat.
When you pull the tab, the contents don’t squirt in your face. Seriously, he HAD to know what he was saying (and doing)
Kirk and his mush brained buddy have a strange fixation over "bananas"
Link would be helpful. But having seen R.C. before I don't think I will bother.
I am thinking it is feature length.
@BufftonBeotch I don't know. But I am pretty sure that I know the sort of stuff that features in it.
I have no inclination to waste my time watching the military grade nonsense spouted by Ray Comfort. Your born again Christian younger brother is clearly refusing to use his brain, and the sooner he starts using it the better it will be for both him and everybody around him.
Of course. Christianity is ALL about manipulating emotions. Imagery, music cues, you name it. Done with that shit ever since I left the JW cult.
I considered watching it, but then I noticed that you didn't provide a link to it. If I have to go digging for it there's zero chance I'll be watching it.
It's on YouTube.
Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron were about the "Left behind " series. One way to get the Christian that is purporting the series stuff is knowing how to explain to them, THEY have been "left behind" in this "bottomless pit" as the bible called the universe and Jesus is Angelic lord of host Lucifer the devil leading the Masonic lodge secret religion racist devil worshipper governmental terrorist European invadors in capitalism slavery such as the bible says requiring Identification for BUYING and SELLING taxation capitalism slavery.
and that no man should be able to buy or to sell, save he that hath [government issued identification] Revelations 13:17
Is this the guy who made a film about a banana being proof of "god" because it is the perfect shape for the mouth when it is actually a fruit engineered and cross bred by humans to finally be edible?
With that weird eyed man who used to be a teen pinup on a sitcom.
