Many companies actually use this system, or a variant that dates events by weeks. My organisation used the week system. Forecast dates would be for week "xx", and if we were currently in week "yx" it was a simple matter to know the lead time, etc.

I used to live in Arkansas. The weather changed in the middle of the day!

Same here in Texas. You can be in a tank top and shorts at noon and by 6pm be in a sweatshirt and jeans. Texas is always some variation of Summer!

We also have to trust that today is Monday, when it is entirely possible someone lost track somewhere along the way, and it should actually be Saturday.
