I used to be peeved when I ate somebody's delicious baked goods that contained "just a little bit of stevia" which was not ever disclosed until after I ate something. Now I don't touch the stuff.....I cannot eat any artificial sweetener (makes me sick!)
I post in the hope that some of the happy, talented bakers out there will read this and think about it.
I know that "traditional" sugar is not good for us, either, but the artificial stuff, is, well artificial!!!!
Keeps me on my toes and eating healthy!
What the posters here haven't noticed.. And you haven't realized, I'm guessing, is this...
Although you can get and use pure stevia, (GNC, other health food/supplement stores), what most people see is the stevia mixtures that companies have compounded, so they can slap a patent on their version.
There seems to be no limit on the crap they'll add to make that profit.
Read labels, always...Aldi's Stevia is Cheap & 100% pure!
@AnneWimsey
Good to know Anne, thank you!
Where I used to work they had a large refrigerator for employees bag lunches. One day some unknown person put a small cake in the refrigerator. Some of my co-workers ate the cake even though it was not there cake.. The next day there was another cake...they ate it. On the third day there was another cake...they ate it....and went home with diarrhea.
Stevia is made from the Stevia plant, totally 100 % natural, head & shoulders above other sweeteners, especially for us diabetics!
