Do you follow any particular major league baseball team? If so, which one and why?

New York Yankees. I spent 6 months in the States in 1987, I worked on a summer camp in upstate New York and was taken to a Yankees/Orioles game. We won 6-3 and I was hooked 🙂

4

Yankees!!! Grew up idolizing Mantle, Maris, Berra, Howard, Skowron, Boyer, and Richardson in the 50's and early 60's and have followed them ever since.

4

Red Sox & Braves, cause I like them..

4

Red Sox-Boston area. Won tickets in trivia and went to game 6 years ago.

Texas Rangers and the Brewers. Rangers because I was born and raised in Texas, Brewers because I think Bob Uecker is a great announcer.

Bob Uecker is brilliant 🙂

Don't you mean Harry Doyle? 😉

My brother worked at a radio station in high school and had a tape of Uecker cussing out someone in the recording studio. Uecker apparently didn't know his mike was on live when he got done recording some promos and it accidentally got transmitted to all the affiliate stations carrying Brewers games (but not live on the air.) On the tape there were some highlights from that day's game, a few promos that stations could use, and then out of nowhere, Uecker's voice comes on saying, "I've read all these goddamn things, who the hell said I had to do them again?! Well where is he?! Call that dickhead!"

I have no interest in watching adults get overpaid for playing a kids game... if it’s possible to have les than zero interest in it that would be me... maybe partly because I’m colorblind and loose track of what team I’m supposed to care about.. I like beer so I’ve been known to keep my friends company while they root for some guy with a ball or what have you.

@Stevil True, I have no prob with other people liking it... You enjoy the game, I’ll go grab us a few more beers... if I miss somthing I’ll be fine?

Boston Red Sox - short answer as to why is I made my first trip to USA over 10 years ago now, went to Boston on my own (thought it would be scary but it wasn't and I had the trip of a life time!) and Red Sox were on TV playing Baltimore Orioles and a group of locals explained the whole game to me. which was great. When I got back to UK I found out we had MLB twice a week on our TV and followed them ever since. Sadly we don't get it currently but I still check out to see how they're getting on.

This reminds me I feel I must say what lovely people you Americans are, you could not have made me feel more welcome and I will love the day when I go back across the pond again one day - thank you all for great memories!

I live half way between St. Louis and Chicago, but I spent 17 years in California, so I'm a fair weather fan for both the Cardinals and the Cubs.

I enjoy baseball - the Seattle Mariners are the team I listen to on the radio. I also follow the Phils, I was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Jersey just north of Philly and the Cubs, sweet Lou left Seattle and managed the Cubs PLUS they really needed to win a world series. The best game ever was #7 of the World Series which the Cubs won.
The Phils winning the World Series was pretty cool too.

St. Louis Cardinals. I grew up an hour from Busch Stadium, and watched Bob Gibson, Lou Brock, Ozzie Smith, Albert Pujols, Chris Carpenter, Yadier Molina, and I've seen 3 World Series parades. (You can actually see me in the 2006 SI commemorative edition.)

Lou Brock was PaPa's favorite.

Im a HUGE Dodger fan! I bleed Dodger Blue and cried for days when Vin Scully retired!!

2

Grew up on the Braves. Lower level teams in Charlotte and Durham, just follow casually. I prefer football.

2

St. Louis Cardinals. I grew up listening to them via Grand Pa (PaPa) sitting on his porch with a radio. That's also where I learned a few choice cuss words and tasted beer for the first time.

Was a Cub fan back in Chi-Town since a kid, now I live on West Coast Florida and a Rays fan.

1

Manchester United

1

Chicago Cubs, my mother was from Chicago and it was the only baseball on TV when growing in Colorado. I do root for the Rockies also.

Cleveland Indians because my parents are from Cleveland and I have no choice in the matter. I already have 2 strikes against me (I'm agnostic and an engineer) so any more infractions on my part will lead to my immediate dismissal from the family.

1

Atlanta Braves from way back in the mid 70's. There were no teams from Florida back then so they were the adopted team and with the Brave games on TBS back then and on the radio I could catch every game.

Been a Blue Jays fan since 1977. Growing up in Eastern Canada, it was Jays, Expos or Red Sox. Dad is a Red Sox fan, so I couldn't do that. lol

Well, being from Wisconsin, I mainly like the Milwaukee Brewers, and if you made me pick a "favorite" team, I guess it would be them. However in football I am a New England Patriots fan (have been since 1995 when Tom Brady was still in high school) and as such I have made several friends in New England, so I kinda root for the Red Sox too. While they love the Pats, I get the feeling that the SAWX will always come first out there, no matter how many Super Bowls the Pats win. Here in WI it's the other way around - the Brewers could win 10 World Series in a row and still not be as popular as the Packers.

Not a baseball fan...boring to me.

Grew up in St Louis. St Louis Cardinals

New York Yankees. Since I was a little kid.
Grew up outside NYC, born in '61.
No other team means anything, except another opponent to be beaten.
Especially the red sux!
