He must have been hand-raised. That size of turtle can easily take your finger. He's very submissive. Wonder how he interacts with strangers?

@btroje I don't know how endangered snapping turtles are, but an unusual pet nonetheless!
Snapping turtles are usually only aggressive out of the water. However if this reptile was caught as a baby & habituated to friendly humans as a pet, this is absolutely plausable. They are facing lots of challenges finding their way thru human infestation of their habitats. Such as roads. Slow down for turtles.
