My cat, Zippy, has the same markings and does the same thing when he wants a drink of water from the sink. He jumps up and stares at the faucet. He likes it better than his bowl of water.

They have a mind of their own, for sure.
I got mine a water fountain but they can be hard to keep clean
@Susieq I have one & it's easy to clean.
@Lilac-JadeCanada Mine starts to develop green algae and it needs to be taken apart to clean it. Sometimes I put it in the dishwasher, but the algae will return.
@Susieq Never had an issue, I just lift the bucket part off the bowl part, wash with hot soapy water, rinse & good to go.
@Susieq Often have to replace the filters. I wonder if an UV light could mitigate the algae?
