Imo it's 4 different cats.
I have a grand kitty that is pure black, she is adorable and in no way is she bad luck.

I did hear of some religious nuts painting a white X on their backs & hanging crucifixes on their collars!
The real bad luck of a black cat is if you do not see him in the darkness and step on him.

... Especially when you are going down the stairs.
@OldGoat43 as your bigger I wouldn't worry. It's when it leaps & legs you up causing you to fall that you need to worry about! Particularly going down long flights of stairs.
