Has anyone here dealt with Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease before? My main man, Spanky was just diagnosed with it, and I feel bad for him. He's on prescription food and anxiety medication now.

Generally, if there isn't an underlying medical condition, I've been told that male cats in particular suffer more from UTIs because of those nasty crystals, and to make sure they get wet food every day along with their kibble. I have been lucky with that strategy with my boy kitties over the years. And the girl kitties like it too!

My vet thinks it's anxiety induced. Though I'm not sure if ongoing psychiatric drugs for my cat, will actually reduce his stress enough so he can be back on regular food.
He's had urine crystals and a bladder infection for quite some time. So my vet suspects it's all to do with anxiety.
If this is the disorder with crystals in the ureter then the diet change may do the trick.
I believe there is also a surgery that can make the urinary opening 'female' to relieve the condition.
I haven't experienced this first hand but I really feel for your kitty. Hang in there!
