The girl cat (Sasha) paws at the sliding glass door as if she wants out, but when we go to open the door for her she just walks away, staying inside, only to try to repeat the performance two minutes later.

Maybe she's saying that it's too hot inside and she would like the door open for a while.

More like she wants the door to remain open so she can go in and out as she pleases. I don't think she realizes, with her fur coat the us humans get cold.
@snytiger6 I'm sure she realizes it, it's just that it's not her problem.
They just want to see if you're paying attention, & keep you moving.
