The cat won.... For now.
Yesterday, the firl cat was scheduled go in fur a booster shot for feline leukemia. She fought, hid under the beds, behind the couches and led on us a long chase. My sister had soem pretty deep scratches which dripped blood. At one point, we had closed all the upstairs doors, and when she ran upstairs we thought we had her cornered, but she litterally jumped from the sop of the stairs over my sister who was coming up the stairs and got away... again. In the end, we called the vet and told them we could not catch the cat. By evening she went back to beign her normal lap sitting self.
We rescheduled the appointment, and since technically she is my nephew's cat, it will be up to him to get her into the cat carrier for the bet trip on the next attempt.
Crazy — but it sounds like she knew what was coming, and that might be the trick. If she’s usually calm, pick her up for cuddles before having someone else bring in the carrier. Or keep the carrier out in the house where it’s “normal” and she won’t react to seeing it. Good luck.
Yes, obviously we need to figure out some sort of trickery. The cuddle method may nto work, as she doesn't liek to be held. Sh elikes lap sitting and beign petted, but she doesn't lie beign picked up.
I have to give my cat a Valium from the vet to catch her and bring her in. Getting her to take the meds though involves a lot of biting. I dilute the pill in water and then give it to her in a syringe in her mouth. It’s s mess with lots of scratches but it’s the only way my vet is able to see her.
It's really difficult to get the cats to take medicine too. Luckily my sister ( the person who feeds them" takes care of that. Her beign the food provider kinds of evens things out to where the cats are more forgiving.

Posted by LaurenIt's my first grand's fifth Gotcha Day and this is her in the arms of my daughter as they drove home.
Posted by LaurenIt would be warmer for us both if he'd get on my lap, but it has to be his idea - though he still likes to stay close.
