among my surviving cats: tevye, his daughters kuma and wendy, his wife penny, and his sister golde. golde is the one who is having trouble staying nourished, and i am trying to keep her fed and get some meat on her bones. kuma is the baby of the family at 14 and a half. penny is the oldest at 16 and 3/4.

@Ray13 sure! here she is talking, and in a huddle with her late daughters layla (looks like penny but with white pays) and robin (looks like her papa tevye). and i shouldn't leave out the rest of the family: wendy is still with us and here she is with her snake toy, now demolished by the dog. minky was poisoned by a pca. here he is looking handsomely like his twin sister kuma. and woody died of a brain tumor and it must have been a big tumor because he had a big heart and a big brain. he looks like his mama on the top and his papa on the underside, and he is looking right at us. and of course there is auntie golde.

@Ray13 aww thanks! they're all blood family. they did have two unrelated uncles, one of whom died at 16 and a half and who was always their go-to snuggle cat; his name was sammy and he was an amazing boy. he's the black one on the left. the other was rossini, whose fur shows a little in sam's picture, and who died of his diabetes despite our care (my guy gave him insulin twice a day for many years). he was the gentlest boy in the world. if another cat annoyed him, he would tentatively raise a paw, not to strike but as if to say "look, i have a paw." when he became ill for the last time, wendy took it upon herself to lie with him and keep him warm as he lost more and more weight. she just wrapped herself around him and lay quietly with him. i miss all the fallen ones but am grateful for the survivors and try to appreciate them every day because no one lives forever.

Posted by LaurenI thought this was an accurate representation of how we feel every time we remember our last cat, which happens often when my daughter and I laugh over our current cat's antics.
