How will it hurt? I wear them nearly every day.
I've heard stories of cats hanging themselves by their collars by getting stuck on something. I don't want to risk it.
@Kynlei my cat has worn a leather collar made from a mans belt for about fifteen years - I got fed up of having to replace those prissy pink or blue ¼" inch soft leather jobs bought in stores. This collar is about ½ inch wide made of ⅜" thick stiffish leather. She very quickly recognised that it was important to her and if it is ever taken off for brushing demands that it be replaced. It carries her "dog" tags of licence and phone number. She also has compulsory microchipping - wow, it has just dawned on me that microchipping has been around for more than 20 years.
@FrayedBear I may leave it on when he gets a bit older, but he's incredibly hyperactive and reckless now. Once he calms down a bit, I think it will be ok.

Posted by LaurenIt's my first grand's fifth Gotcha Day and this is her in the arms of my daughter as they drove home.
Posted by LaurenIt would be warmer for us both if he'd get on my lap, but it has to be his idea - though he still likes to stay close.
