I keep mine indoors. There is too much disease and traffic outside.

i had 2 indoor/outdoor cat brothers growing up. 1 disappeared when he was about 5, but the other lived till he was almost 18. now my dad has 3 cats, 1 only indoor by her choice, and 2 that were strays, so they won't stand to be indoor only. plus 6 strays they are friends with that live in the garage and the mudroom

I have never let my cats outside because I care about them as I would a child and I don't want them to get ran over or lost.

One of my FB friends is an avid "herper" -- someone who likes reptiles. He's always posting information to take down myths about the dangers of snakes and lizards and making mention of how much more dangerous cats are for their environment. I have 2 cats I keep indoors all the time...but I live in NYC and that's easier for me to say.

@AmiSue I like my cats, but I do sometimes wonder how things would have been if I'd have accepted that albino python that an ex of mine was thinking about getting for me.

I have not let a cat outside (except under controlled circumstances) in my adult life. My kitties are indoors only.

I try to keep mine in. I live in an area with coyotes, mountain lions and bears. They're better off inside.

I belled my cat and it cut down on my tripping on her too! She was the last that was let out. She disappeared one day at 17 years old.

Mine are totally indoor kitties.

I suspect a lot of this is true. However, I go by the rule that cats who go outside shorten their lives up to 50% because of disease and accidents. Plus, the one bird that got into my house failed to live 10 minutes.

Fleas, diseases, injuries. I have put mine on leashes, never let them roam.

All my cats are strays. I just don't have the discipline or willpower to not give into their yowls to get out

I understand! Maybe put a bell on 'em? Would that be a consideration?

@MojoDave definitely!
