My Smokey does this to me all the time. Especially when I've just woken up and my feet/ankles aren't working properly yet. He usually gets kicked or I stumble.
Another thing he'll do is follow along but stare at my feet as we go, like he has to watch them to know which way we're going or something. LOL
We are an estimated 5 to 40 times our feline companions' weight. We have a larger brain and are supposedly more intelligent. Therefore, it behooves us to learn their body language and to reward them for staying out of the way of our big, clumsy, ape feet.
It can be done! Mine mostly don't get underfoot.
If I lived in a place with stairs, my felines would have inadvertently killed me wrapping around my ankles.
I've got one that does that all the time, especially in the middle of the night when I'm on a bathroom "break"! Sometimes, in the dark, we connect, my foot & her ass, & she's the one who gets offended!
My little piss ant will stop at the top of the stairs and spread out. I'm like "girl this is not going to have a good outcome," and the she runs off just a split second before my foot comes down.
