I sat in a Land Rover & watched a serval hunting. INFINITELY patient, SLOOOOWLY putting its feet down silently as it crept up on a mouse along a Kenyan road. It took about 15 minutes and then....one athletic pounce and the mouse was dinner and the serval was gone! They're amazing! Our driver thanked me because he'd never watched a hunt like that one. (Usually, cat kills are the result of a speed chase. Servals are masters of stealth.) (Not to mention they're gorgeous.)
I think it's a Serval, isn't it? Or Servile? What a stunning creature.
No self respecting cat would ever be servile. That word means having or showing an excessive willingness to serve or please others. Definitely NOT a cat name or characteristic of any cat.
@HippieChick58 That's so true! I should have caught that so thank you.
Whatever, I wouldn't try petting it!
@FrayedBear It's the story of my life that I ABSOLUTELY would pet it - and sometimes that works out! And of course I'd give it big time cuddles, too.
@HippieChick58 if you would like to see the embodiment of servile tune in to any of the white house news.
@PaddyO Yeah, I am following, but not too closely. My anxiety is through the roof.
@HippieChick58 Do what any hippie chick would do and fire up a joint.
@PaddyO The sad and tragic reality is.......... I'm allergic to it. I was using edibles to help me sleep, and I got really congested. I mean serious breathing difficulty. Now I realize it had been building up for a while. But the last time was some serious shit..., but I felt really good about it. At the same time I was trying to use my CPAP, I was pretty new with the CPAP and I also have insomnia. And that was what convinced me I needed to retire.
@HippieChick58 That is tragic. I have balm made from a variety of constituents. I believe it has camphor in it, which is what makes Vick vapo-rub. It's no miracle but it makes breathing easier. Put a bit below my nose before I crash for the evening.
Perhaps you would benefit from a low dose of mycelium fruit? It would be a nice time to alter your perception. It would be easier than closing your eyes, putting your fingers in your ears while chanting no,no, no, no, no, no,...... For the next four years.
@PaddyO whereas I am terrified of the next 4 years, I do have a strong network of supportive friends/family. I do believe I will need to keep all the wits I have about me by whatever means possible. I will consider mycelium fruit if a need arises. Thanks for the suggestion.
What animal is this?
Serval
Stunning. Doesn't look like it would fit on a lap very well.
I wouldn't recommend trying, HC!

Posted by LaurenI thought this was an accurate representation of how we feel every time we remember our last cat, which happens often when my daughter and I laugh over our current cat's antics.
