Siberian tiger in falling snow. Happy winter snow
Thanks for the reminder. In the Dec. 2019 issue of National Geographic is an article that would really piss off those of us that care about animals. [nationalgeographic.com] In the US alone there are more captive Tigers then in the world. There are 5,000 (low est) Tigers in non zoo settings in the US, 1,659 in zoos worldwide and 3,900 wild Tigers in Asia. Those in the private hands are often abused and used to simply create more cubs. After the cubs get too old to handle they are killed. More evidence of how the business world is destroying any sense of decency and morality.
Some of those captive bred cubs are used for canned hunts
I volunteered for many years at a sanctuary that took in many critters, including big cats. They came from a lot of unfortunate situations.
And many of the zoos are questionable as well. I have heard that they will also breed just to have attractive, young animals for display, and will kill the older ones. Expensive to feed ya know.
@itsmedammit The breeding part was in the article. Big or little a lot of animals are bred for one purpose - profit. Some of the Tigers bred have, naturally, maladies due to too much inbreeding.

Posted by LaurenIt would be warmer for us both if he'd get on my lap, but it has to be his idea - though he still likes to stay close.
