OK. One of out cats will come to get one of us, usually me, to follow him to the food dish, which is already full. he just wants someone there to watch while he eats. He is nto the first cat that we've had that does this.

I'm just curious if any feline lovers can explain why some cats will come and seek people out just to watch them eat?

Leo can be the same way, and he detects I am going away, so he is glued to me. I will miss him, too.

Just watch them? Mine want me to pet them in between them sticking their heads in the bowl to eat. I've had 6 or 7 cats do this with me.

Well, he is especially happy if I pet him while he eats.

@snytiger6 My first cat would turn into a torrent of grey fur and sharp claws if anyone dared pet it while it eats.

My cats don't want me to watch them eat, but they do get concerned when any little part of the bottom of the bowl is showing. I have one cat that I think must have been Roman in a former life; he lays down next to the bowl and pulls the food out bit by bit, pausing to eat each one carefully. He does it quite often, although I have no idea WHY.

Distributing the kill? lol

Yeah, the boy7 cat also fetches me when the bottom of the dry food bowl can be seen. Evidentl;y I am more reponsible for him than my sister who gives them the wet food. (We only have one person give them wet food, because we know htey wi8l lie to us and tell us they are starving if they can get wet food from just anyone).

I'm guess this is "Look what I hunted and caught! Aren't a good kitty Dad?" behavior.

Also could be wanting to eat in a group. Or not wanting another cat to approach and using you as a shield.

Your cat wants to be able to fully focus on enjoying his meal. Your job is to protect his flanks.

That is truly unique. I have had cats that will allow me to watch them but my current kitty leaves the room if I am in there when she is eating. The complete opposite! Cats are awesome. 🙂
