Corporate Reforms Are Necessary
Corporations won’t go away but years ago I heard a mid-level corporate officer say a prison term might help his career. For him, a life term without parole would help. For his corporation, an equivalent to the death penalty would help.
IMO, requiring corporations to be owned only by their employees, not by investors, is a minimum.
What do you say?
One thing I am sick of is taxpayers bailing them out. That used to not happen. The federal government changed the rules for stick share owners in the 70s? I think, that forced companies to give out most of their extra money and NOT be allowed to hold money in reserves. That is why Ford did not need a bailout loan during the auto crisis - they are 51% family owned and could survive on the cash reserves (they also sold off a lot of holdings). We give WAY too much the top one percent.
Stronger and better protected unions would help.
Companies that are employee owned in full or part seem to do better as far as fairness and productivity and happiness of employees.
Decades ago, Harvard Business Review said employee-owned companies treat the environment better and have less employee theft.
