John F Kennedy argues for universal healthcare
Almost 60 years later, not much has changed.
The greatest president we ever had, who brought us out of the depression, into the 20th century and prepared for war, who was the first to talk about universal healthcare was FDR. We wouldn’t have been a world power except for him. JFK , Bernie and Elizabeth Warren are just repeating his ideas.
I like to think of it as carrying on the fight. But... tomato, tomato.
I would agree that FDR might be America's greatest president. I will tell you the U.S. was a world power already after WW1. As to WW11 and the plight of European Jews , he did nothing and that to me is a major stain on him. Now LBJ except for his Vietnam policies could have gone done as one of the greatest for getting civil rights legislation passed( maybe the single greatest piece of legislation in American history after the freeing of slaves by Lincoln), something kennedy would not do. as well as medicare which lifted millions of seniors out of poverty. but Vietnam was his stain. As to saying that Bernie and Elizabeth are just repeating FDR thats not true. they are carrying the torch and moving it further
