3/08/2018 Diet Diary - everyone welcome
Got the window painted today, several hours before the rain came so hopefully it will hold up well. Finished mowing/trimming as well but didn't get the gutter up. Fortunately the rain is pretty slow so not likely to be a problem. However, cleaning the other gutter, found I will have to make repairs on it as a piece cracked.
Kept calories under 1000 today although I did have some of the evil cereal, just allowed for it in the day, with a bit of milk. Also kept within my selected eating "window". Wanted to avoid admitting defeat and having to return to posting everything here. I do continue to keep my personal notebook, need that structure for myself. Now, just have to stick with the plan.
Goal: consume between 1100 and 1200 calories a day indefinitely. Goal weight 200 lbs. 100+ lost already.
Breakfast
Lunch
Dinner
Exercise
Goal: 200 steps and 1000 curls w/ 5 lbs/hand
Did:
I'll be weighed towards the end of this month at Dr office. Don't think I'll be out of my wheelchair by then. My progress walking is miserably slow, but I'm working on it.
For a while, it was easier to eat 500 calories a day than now, but why? Does one's body have a preference for some amount of fat, and it makes you hungry when you try to loose too much weight? I don't think so, not when one is obese. I need to reduce carbs to avoid the hunger. I think your body acts like you are addicted to carbs, and it wants more.
Hang in there! It will get easier with each day. Think of the emotional reward when you walk in to your doctor's office the first time.
Indeed, our bodies will go to drastic measures to protect us from starvation. The body doesn't know if we are lean or obese but when we drastically cut the amount of calories we are giving it, it perceives it as facing starvation and it will fight back. That is why, if you cut back too far, like much under 900 calories for an extended time, the body will gear back your metabolism so you can "survive" on fewer calories. Of course the effect it has on weight loss is to slow it down.
When the body perceives it's self as being inadequately fed it will stimulate the hunger centers of the brain in an attempt to entice us to eat more. It also pushes carbs/sugar through cravings. Sugar is quick, easy energy so the body likes it. Not as labor intensive as more complex foods and in a "starvation" state, easy access energy sources are valuable to the body.
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
