28/09/2018 - Diet Diary- For anyone to share their diet day in a comment below.
Sometimes I'm late to make these, so please feel free to do so yourself. Just copy this preamble and change the date.
Fair amount of activity today, further cleaning out back, including stick/magnet search of the driveway for nails that were among the debris I swept there from the cement pad before moving the motorcycle. Didn't realize there were nails until I had swept lots over. Picked up at least a dozen nails/screws so hoping I got all of them. Had not been thinking about the construction stuff I did in that area several years ago. Got the bike into the space, on the trailer. Tomorrow will put the "skin" on the shed so it is protected until I decide for sure what to do with it next.
Went over goal today, finished at 1337. Got a little carried away, initial plan for supper was thwarted when I found the meat I was going to put on a sandwich was bad. Did an eye roll, pulled the milk out, which I needed to be using anyway, and had cereal for supper, of course it ended up being 2 servings of cereal, which I don't have real often and found myself quite enjoying. Oh well, still took in less than it takes to "maintain" my weight, according to the chart so not going to stress over it too much. I'm retired, I WORK at not stressing too much about anything.
What kind of bike?
I'm planning on getting an electric recumbent trike called a FAT TAD; See youtube, including
@EdEarl This looks like a cool machine. Interesting! Reminded me of the "motor bike" my grandpa made when I was a little kid. He mounted a lawnmower motor on the back of a bicycle, right behind the seat. Ran the chain from the motor to the sprocket so it was strictly motorized. He would pull start it, had it rigged with a clutch of some sort so when he released it, off it would go. He was a bit of a tinker/handyman/jack of all trades. Actually was a mechanic, had his own garage/repair shop, back in the 20's-30's then again after WWII.
My bike is a Honda 750F (first picture) the one I'm cleaning for (today that turned into putting a "shed" up over it as it is in my back parking area now) is in the second picture. It is a '76 Liberty Edition Harley that belonged to my dad. It is a bit of a restoration project now as he had taken a lot of parts off it before he got too bad to go out in the garage. It hasn't run for years. Not sure what I'm going to do with it. Same for my Honda, as I'm still infatuated with the idea of riding it but the practice, not so much. Need to make some decisions about them as it is sad to see them just sitting, getting no road time.
@EdEarl I've been in Norton for 36 years next month (Oct) Came here for a job after finishing my degree. This was the location of the first offer so packed up and moved, which meant taping the cabinets shut and putting heavy stuff on the floor so the "mobile home" could be pulled out here. Not a cheap venture but cheaper than buying something new or paying rent on something suitable until I got established.
My son was only 2 years old then so not a lot of excess available. After 3 years was getting pretty crowded in the trailer and was in a position to move up so bought the house then. Home ownership has had it's ups and downs but for what I paid for it, it has served me well. Hope to get some more improvement projects done in the near future. I've been slacking the last few years.
The same month that I retired, with dreams of doing many projects that I didn't have time for while I was working, my dad died. I had to deal with the "estate" which meant I had to move all the stuff in his house and garage to mine or get rid of it and get rid of the house and vehicles. After court/probate costs (that system sucks) it was a deficit project but the house wasn't mine to worry about at least. Unfortunately, having the excess stuff in my spaces, which were already full enough really dampened my enthusiasm I guess and getting projects moving has been slow.
I've been gradually working on resuming control of my life but it is challenging at times. End of the month is time for community "clean up" week when you can put almost anything out at the curb and the city will pick it up, if someone else doesn't first. I've earmarked some stuff to put out this year that I've held on to for too long. Hopefully, it will help move me forward a bit quicker. Also sorting some inside stuff for Goodwill donations. So much to look forward to! ?
@DotLewis We moved into this house in 1984. My Dads side of the family are alcoholics and druggies. It missed me. I read "The Limits to Growth" in the 60's and decided not to have children; had the Dr snip me. Anna has two children whom I am the only father they have had. We married when they were in grade school.
My mother married five times, once before me. They were all worthless bastards, except the last. He was a lazy clown; PTSD from WWII. #2 was Dad. #3 & 4 abused me. #5 was no help for a kid suffering PTSD. Neither one of us understood the other suffered from PTSD; I didn't know what it was at that time. Took me a long time, to understand where I am among humanity. Except for scars from diabetes, I'm well physically and mentally,, now. As I loose weight, I will become more mobile. Hopefully, I'll dance again. I like to dance.
I suffered from neuropathic pain for several years, and no meds helped, not morphine or anything else pain specialists tried. That's when I went from plump to obese. I meditated to control the pain, but it just went away about the time my blood pressure went to normal...shortly after starting to eat vegan. But, I had to visit the hospital three times with stays of eight weeks or so, before learning what to eat, and that the right kind of food reduces hunger. I went from mega calories a day, to what I eat now, and I'm less hungry now than before. For me, being able to eat and loose weight has given me great confidence, and with that has come additional clarity about my environment. And, I believe I am a kinder more open person; rather than, defensive and introverted.
I find art now takes a more important role in my life that it did before. Although, I have minimal manual dexterity skills, such as drawing or sculpting. I've recently discovered I can smell of spices and know what to use on a dish, and I can make something good from whatever the fridge has available. I don't have any artistic super skill. I just try to put a little more beauty into everything I do, whatever it is.
Calorie Goal 1200
Exercise Goal: pause to heal muscle pull and ulcer on my foot.
Breakfast:
1.5 c shreded wheat 300
1/2 c blueberries 50
Lunch:
Peanut butter sandwich 400
Dinner:
2 Tacos from a local restaurant 800
Over my goal (1550); should have stopped at one, but sometimes it's OK to be bad to self.
that is keeping the cals down, I blew mine yesterday, had bread for first time in 4 months, only 2 slices and it was all I had, just needed to break my rythym, weight this month is hardly moving despite super low cal intake, so I thought I would try and trick my metabolism. Lost 22 pounds each month for 1st 3 months, and in teh last month only 7, trying to know it down a bit more over the next 48 hours.
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
