4/11/2018 - Diet Diary- For anyone to share their diet day in a comment below.
Sometimes I'm late to make these, so please feel free to do so yourself. Just copy this preamble and change the date.
LONG day! With time change and the weather urgency, I hit the ladder at 10:30 and was there much of the day, getting down because the sun was setting. "Kids" and I have been laying on the sofa for 2 hours now because I don't have the energy to get up. Tomorrow may require skipping exercise class, if painting weather is on. Neighbor didn't complain, she mostly goes to humour me anyway.
Calorie intake today was 1174, splurged on a Freschetta pizza at the neighbor's house. Enjoyed it and we each have 1/4 of the pizza left for another day. Two days worth of leftovers so won't need to take time from painting to cook. Darn, would rather spend a couple hours making a nice soup!
I weighed on my scales and think I now weigh about 335 lbs, down 20 lbs from 355 at the Dr. office three months ago. That is almost two pounds a week. Picture below.

Good work! That's a good, sustainable pace for loss. It doesn't provide the immediate gratification that some "diets" do but when weight loss is going to take some time, I believe "slow and steady" has the best chance for creating permanent change and long term loss. I've been working on a solid loss of 24 pounds for 4 months now. I'm within touching distance (< 1lb) but that pound is a fighter. I have almost 3 weeks before I plan to enter "winter maintenance mode", hopefully that last pound will give up by then.
@EdEarl My scales are not "accurate" when compared to the ones at the clinic but they are for the most part, consistent so I can pretty well tell if I'm going up or down. There are days however, when I can get on the scales 4 times in a row and get a different reading every time. Today was one, there were 4 different numbers, with a span of almost 5 pounds. Because it can be glitchy like this, I have become a bit obsessive and will usually do at least 2, more often 3 readings. If they come out the same for at least 2 then I will call that the day's number. Today, the first reading was so good, I got excited as it was under my goal. However the next try was 4.8 pounds heavier. Ended up walking away and returning in 5 minutes, got 2 the same immediately. Nothing to do about this unless I want to spend a lot more on better scales but I am not THAT obsessive about it.
I do like having "short term goals" or intermittent goals as it breaks up the process into more easily attainable goals. Rather than looking at is as "I need to lose 60 pounds" I think of "I want to lose 20 pounds" then when I reach that goal, I reward myself, even if just with a "pat on the back" for accomplishing my goal. Then I start on the next one. It doesn't have to be real precise. When I reach my short term goal, I will not consider it complete until I have had a weight at or below that goal for at least 4-5 days as bouncing is easy and just hitting my goal doesn't mean the next day will still be there. AHH! Rambling, I need to go to bed.
@DotLewis My scale is electronic and it bounces around second by second so it's impossible to get a steady reading. I think the highest reading is correct, at least it seems to agree with the Dr. scales, but I've only compared twice.
I need to fast a few days, to get my head into the diet again. That spell with the pain has twisted my resolve.
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
