Calorie intake for today was 1268, under my limit but will see what tomorrow brings. Having a very uncooperative body this week, clinging to every calorie that goes in. I would shake my head and say "you just aren't logging everything" but after counting calories for a year and a half, I'm pretty good at it and can't think that suddenly I can't keep track of what I ate.

I may be having a little reaction to increasing the calorie allowance. I'm still at a weight loss level but it is higher than I have been accustom to the past 6 months so the body may be celebrating the "feast" by saving up for the next famine. Well, I've long known that weight loss is an exercise in patience and persistence. Guess I will have to have some of both.

A RECIPE
I recently made a GBOMBS stew. It changes each time I make it, because it is flavored differently.

a medium sweet potato. the sweet
2 large cans of finely diced tomatoes. the sour
3 cans of green beans.
a large purple onion
half a dozen mushrooms
several stalks of celery
several carrots
cup of seeds
cup of picante
salt and pepper
garlic
cumin

Adjust ingredients to your supplies.

Makes large crock pot full of vegetable stew.

GBOMBS tells you what to eat daily: Greens, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms, Berries and Seeds including nuts.

Here is what's on my menu for this weekend:
KALE SOUP
Potatoes
onions
garlic
tomatoes
kale
great northern beans
broth, bay leaves, salt, pepper, Ms Dash seasoning.

You were probably with me up to this point but full disclosure requires that I also tell you I will be putting Italian sausage in this soup. Can't help myself, love some good kale soup with sausage. 🙂

@DotLewis I walked 325 steps today, and celebrated. It wasn't all at one time; rested three times. I now know, that barring injury, nothing will keep me from mowing the lawn this spring.

I'm no angel; I celebrated.

I was busy all day and didn't think about eating until my wife called as she left work. I asked her to get something good, and she brought home a chicken enchilada dinner for me. I ate the whole thing. In the future, celebrations will forego chicken and other meat. I'll have cheese enchiladas; not vegan but vegetarian.

Over many years, my eating meat has declined by type of meat. First thing to go was pork, a long time ago. Then beef, now chicken. Never ate a lot of fish; stopped it somewhere in there. I quit eating them much, for health reasons. Sometimes became rarely, and that became never, because I prefer other things.

Once, I ate double cheeseburgers several times a week. They were my favorite food. After not eating them for a while, my wife brought home a cheeseburger and gave me a bite. I was looking forward to savoring that bite, but the instant I tasted it I realized it was a mistake. It tasted more like a mouth full of lard than my memory of a cheeseburger. My taste had changed.

@EdEarl Congrats on getting more than your planned steps in. Hard process but there will be grass waiting for you when spring comes. 😕 When I scowl about having to mow the lawn, I will remind myself that I am perhaps lucky to be able to do it. 🙂

I probably eat less meat than many people. Last beef I had was maybe 6 months ago. Other than the sausage I used part of in the Zuppa Toscano and will use the rest of in the kale soup, haven't had meat since T-day but someone else fixed the turkey so no left overs for me. Oops, forgot the bacon (not much of it) in the BLT I had when I went out to eat with my friend last Saturday. I don't eat out often, I think the last cheeseburger was over 6 months ago. I never ate them regularly, even when I worked out of town, I took my lunch most of the time so did not eat out or run through the fast food drive through.

However, while I'm not bothered by foregoing something, like a cheeseburger, for months but I'm not ready to cut meat out completely. I am a big fan of soups, usually with some type of meat in it. Even the cheesy broccoli soup I make, I like a little bit of diced ham or bacon in. I suppose, as long as I can eat meat, without causing health problems, which does mean limiting the fatty meats and red meats, I will continue to do so. Your resolve is stronger than mine. It's amazing the health benefits you report getting from the plant based diet. Great work.
OK, have to quit, later than planned and I have to get up in the morning, WAY too early.
