Well, it may take a few days to rally, especially since the weather is totally sucky today. VERY grey, rainy, chilly all day, no sitting in the south window. Fortunately not freezing but that will come tonight. However, eating today so far has been good. Post "supper* I'm at under 700 calories. Unless I lose my mind later, should finish the day in good shape.

Well, finished the day at 935, so very good on calories but horrible, awful, no good, very bad day for sodium intake. Wouldn't have thought about it but decided to check my BP, which I have really been slack on lately. I am on medication which had been controlling BP pretty well and keeps my heart rate down so I haven't had racing heart for a couple years. It had been going well enough that I just haven't been checking and when I've been somewhere that it is checked it has been acceptable (not great) but I have a tendency to "white coat anxiety" so I hadn't worried about it too much.

Anyway, checked the BP and the systolic was WAY high! Like crazy, 179 and 165 on 2 readings, two meters. After a little added anxiety and panic, chilled over the fact I had no other "symptoms" except a slight headache so I wasn't going to die or explode imminently. Started some research and some thinking, concluding that salt intake would trigger a precipitous rise in BP. Went to the FitWatch page where I track my food and looked for the nutritional breakdown on my day's eating.

Here, it comes to my mind to use a non-secular phrase (or several) in an exclamation of disbelief. I had taken in 3 TIMES the RDA of sodium for someone my age. No wonder I was about to blow a gasket. Looked over my general pattern for several days and excess is common although not generally THIS much excess. Looks like I will be adding sodium to the things I will have to track on a daily basis if I don't want to find myself in the same boat that brought me to diet land. Damn! Just when you think you're getting something under control, something new pops up.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.

Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
