24 Jan 2019 - Diet Diary-
Oh, the frustration. Wanted to change the tub spout today but the thing is so aged onto the pipe that I could not remove it safely. The original installation was done poorly, the pipes inside the wall were not firmly secured to the studs and twisting the spout was causing movement in the valve. I was afraid I might end up fracturing some of the soldered joints so had to give up. Would not have been as hesitant if the water had been turned off but did not want to be scurrying around trying to cut the water off while the bathroom flooded. SO, left the bathroom project and started working on the cabinets in the dining room. More work but less frustration.
In between jobs ended up doing some gratuitous snacking, resulting in a calorie count of around 1500 today. Need to pull myself together tomorrow, get a couple boards from the garage and start building the base for the cabinets. Hopefully it will keep me busy enough to not take uncalled for snack breaks. Weight remains under the winter goal. Continue to debate when I want to get serious again, that switch can prompt a lot of procrastination. Getting cold, need to get into bed before I get chilled.
Don't push yourself too hard. When you say you are still under your winter goal do you mean you haven't yet achieved the weight loss youare aiming for? Winter isn't over yet - at least, not where I am! Sometimes we have to mark time for a bit until we can work up the motivation for the next burst. Things going wrong almost always leads to snacking but it sounds as if your keeping busy strategy will pay off both from the point of view of keeping you occupied and giving you a worthwhile achievement at the end of it.
I have a bit to go to reach my final goal but having started this over a year and a half ago, i learned last winter/holiday season (which lapsed into spring) that actively dietIng didn't go well through that time of year. I ended up going to mainenance when I recognized the struggle trying to lose had become. I managed to retain the loss until I finally got back to the loss program but it took me 8 months to shift back.
This winter, I knew what was coming and had set a short term goal to try to reach before Thanksgiving. I did reach it, although I would have switched to maintenance level then, even if I hadn't. I've worked to stay at or below that goal through the holidays but this year I don't want to wait for June before shifting back to losing. Unfortunately, shifting from maintenance to actively dietIng is almost as hard as starting the diet in the first place. This group has done a lot to help me stay on track since last June.
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
