14 July 2019 - DIet DIary - Temps are going back up, to be worse the rest of the week. Had to do some work in the yard anyway. Not moving forward a lot on that whole sorting/purging thing. Need a "Clean Sweep" episode at my house. Wonder if it would draw attention if I just started hauling everything in the house out into the front yard?

On a more positive note, the intermittent fasting is getting easier. After 8pm had only 6 peanuts, while letting dogs out, nothing else and I will go to bed soon. Finished my day a little higher, 1262 for the final count. I think that last bounce may have been somewhat hormone induced. Despite being well past "that time" I have noticed that every so often, throughout this 2 year diet, there are plateaus that should not be able to persist over an extended time.

I contribute these to shifts in hormone levels, largely because when I was younger and dieted, I could count on a week every 4-6 weeks when I could not lose weight, regardless of how little I ate. These days these stalls are totally random but when I am in one, weight sticks. These hormone shifts are obviously not limited to women, different things, including age can cause shifts in hormone levels for anyone and when the balance is "off" the body will fight for every ounce.

That little rant aside, I will outlast this "pause" as I have others before it. I do have moments when I think "Hell, might as well eat whatever I want if nothing is coming off" but aside from brief lapses, have been able to stay on track. This time it means more to me than in past efforts when diet attempts were largely cosmetically motivated. Maybe, like @robecology said on another post (by @EdEarl) it may be easier as we get older because we have maturity and awareness in our favor. Hope so, need something to balance out the stiff joints and nighttime bathroom visits. 😉

You have effectively reached your goal so small shifts up and down and plateaus (plateaux) are going to happen. Be kind to yourself - you have done brilliantly. You may be overlooking salt differences that are making you retain fluids, too. I am really looking forward to the time in the not toodistant future (I hope) when I shall be downsizing and then I shall be forced to get rid of lots of stuff. I want to live a much more sparse life and not leave my children a mess to clear up after me so I intend to get rid of a lot, but we all know about the road to hell!

The stiff joints? No good solution...I've tried Glucoseamine/Chondroitin maxed....no results.

The best thing for that is flexibility exercises, walking stairs, staying active. My personal favorites? Total gym, biking, swimming. Tennis.

The frequent bathroom visits?

Keep a bottle by the bed.

There's just no good solution out yet for the increasing prostate....it's sort of like grey hair and that double chin....inevitable. I've tried Saw Palmetto, and the refined stuff from it...max doses...no result. Best to adjust your lifestyle...keep a bottle close by. When flying, keep an aisle seat. Finasteride seems a good prescription drug.

Ooops...sorry, Dot....I responded as if you were a male...not sure about women's cures for incontinence...but the stiffness is fought with activity.

Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
