30 July 2019 - Diet Diary - Was feeling good yesterday afternoon, doc said cut back the second med as it may be too much and causing some lightheadedness and PVCs. Also, drink big glass of water when I get up as it may help as well and stay active as when my BP gets low it may trigger them. Came home, did some work around the house, didn't feel any PVCs the rest of the afternoon. Unfortunately, as evening arrived, started having skips then took my BP and it was up, well above acceptable. Don't know if reducing the med would react that quickly, will see what the next couple days brings. Will also see if the other stuff improves. Not happy with this.
Although I weighed 2 hours earlier than normal, wanted to do it before I drank the water, weight was down another 0.2 lb today. Eating was controlled, ended at 1181 so should be good. Tonight was last night of water aerobics. Need to find an activity/exercise to replace it as the senior class is only 2x week and otherwise my activity mostly comes from doing things around the house and yard and sometimes walking somewhere. Nothing intense.
Sorry to hear about the PVCs. I hope that settles down soon. What sort of level is your BP? Do you measure heartrate as well? I ask because my husband has a heart condition and keeps a twice-daily diary of his BP and heart-rate, and his doctor seems a lot more concerned with his heartrate than his BP, whatever it does. Since you like gardening, if your garden doesn't give you enough exercise, is there a community garden you could work in, or maybe a neighbour who would appreciate help? When I worked as a volunteer organiser, I had a group of volunteers who went out and helped mainly elderly people with their gardens. I have to admit that their favourite activity was hacking and slashing at overgrown gardens, though.
My BP had been doing OK, after I started meds, stayed under 140/80 for quite a time, (couple years) then I found that it was spiking in the evening, up in the 150-160 range, bottom number is almost always OK. Doc added a second med and this worked for maybe 9 months then I had some spiking which continued into the next day so fill in doc saw me and upped the second med. That was just a few weeks ago. I started being lightheaded when I would stand so was scheduled to talk to my regular doc about adjustments. By then I had started having quite a bit of PVC activity.
The meds do keep my pulse controlled. Initially, after the first incidents of Afib I had a couple bouts that sent me to the ER with a heart rate around 180. Med change/increase pretty much stopped those. Doctor thinks my rate may now be so low it is causing some of this PVC problem. It runs 50-55 most of the time and even with activity, never get it over 100. Today, the exercise thing didn't work, I started having enough PVCs that it made me lightheaded. Had to sit down during exercise. I saw the doc again and she is referring me to a cardiologist. Should get a call from them soon to set an appointment. Hopefully, a specialist will be able to come up with some better control over the BP & rhythm problems.
@CeliaVL Even my doctor admitted that part of the problem may be that we have suppressed my heart rate so much in an attempt to control the BP that it is causing some of these problems. I'm glad she decided it was time to have me see a specialist about it, hopefully that will give some better answers.
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
