3 Feb. 2020 - Diet Diary - Still no downturn in weight although calories have been well controlled. Today just topped 1000 and salt was under 1000. Haven't checked BP tonight but the pattern has shown significant decrease in late night spikes so the salt restriction is worth the effort. Drugs alone were not doing it.
Trying to disengage from a lot of things, particularly political stuff, for a while as I'm feeling like it is adding stress and anxiety to my life, to the point it is unhealthy. LOT less cruising facebook, watching news, reading news, etc. I believe the lunatics are now in charge of the asylum and fleeing may be the only chance of survival. (don't worry, I WILL vote!)
Hi Dot. Just posted in Health & Happiness where I have been. Hope Battling Obesity has not added to your stress.
I have been in rehab for a couple of weeks and gained about 10 lbs, some muscle and water, so do not know about fat. Now that I am home again, I will continue the exercise and start 4/20 eat/fast cycles to try to reduce my total calories.
Good to be back.
Meditate to control stress, even one minute meditation helps, especially if you repeat it several times a day. Exercise is better in some ways.
I hear you...and I too feel stuck on a plateau in the mid 140's. I concur; the politics of America are causing a lot of us undue stress. Let's hope we get a clear nominee from the democrats. and a clear and concise win in November. Hopefully by then I, too, will get a grip on my diet and move to a healthier fitness level.
Please explain what politics has to do with weight loss.. and anxiety.
Nearly two out of every five Americans say politics is stressing them out, and one in five are sleepless or have had friendships damaged over politics, the researchers found.
"A surprisingly large number of American adults perceive their engagement in politics as having negative effects on their social, emotional and even physical health," said lead researcher Kevin Smith, chair of political science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln..
@Robecology And nothing like stress and anxiety to spur overeating. Had a moment tonight, about the time the SotU started. DID NOT WATCH IT but when I turned the TV on, it was on many channels. Went to recorded programming. Backing away from as much as possible, I do still watch Colbert though.
@DotLewis ...and kudos for watching Colbert. I think he's brilliant. He knows how to make us laugh at the frightful and potentially dangerous things going on In politics. I share his monologue often..
Sadly; (as he does tonight) he often takes consolation in alcohol...
but do smile and enjoy!
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
