In my view, if that counts, Biden has made his first profoundly bad choice- that is making no effort to stop Israel, and their criminal leader, from murdering more civilians, using everything including phosphorous munitions. I do not support any war crimes, against any nation- but his may make uncommitted voters vote Republican, on this one act, and a second Trump circus, would bring out all the evil clowns to haunt the US.
Israel should've been dealt with ages ago, but now, wouldn't stopping Israel and their criminal leader let Hamas advance and achieve the genocide of Israelis? That's the ultimate goal of Hamas. They are not interested in the two-state solution. They are Islamists, not Muslims, if you know the difference between them. BTW, both Israel and Palestine are parties to the Geneva Conventions and they both violate the Conventions.
I basically agree with you. But I don't know the difference between "Islamists and Muslims". Although I look most important things up- I don't give a rat's ass about any religion. And I don't give a damn whether Donald Duck is a muscovy or a mallard.
And for example, I do not want to kill a woman because she is wearing a religious head scarf: her head, her scarf-- and none of my business!!! Black, the colour, attracks heat; but when one sees something coming down the street, dressed in black, with only the eyes visible, temp at the 100 degree mark- surely a person has to wonder if Holloween has come early- or just how dumb things are going to get!
Yes, this has little to do with Hamas killers or Israeli murderers, only one answer- terminate 'them'!
This IS a religious war.
Before Hamas took over, Fatah, the secular party, had dominated Palestinian politics for decades. Notice the word 'secular'.
Meanwhile, Hamas is a militant Palestinian nationalist and Islamist movement in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Hamas absolutely opposes the secular approach. Right now, Hamas is aiming at massacring and eliminating another religious group - Jews.
There is no doubt that Israel has been violating the international human rights law for many years, and the blame is clearly on the US, the UK, Canada and other world leaders who have done nothing but carry on with the status quo. But now, after Hamas surprise attack on Israel, the world leaders have no choice but admit their double standards and take sides with Israel to suppress, if not elminate, Hamas terrorist acts, which is the top priority.
That is my take.
Edit: Of course, we also have to ask what's in it for the US, Iran, China and Russia.
@Ryo1 I like a quote attributed to Thomas Paine, "Man created god in man's image." That word "god" should be pluralized---and then there are the millions of "one true gods."
Ya, do something secular; chill out; have a beer, argue about football, or who has the ugliest mother in law!
McDonald's coffee is okay, but on the weekend the religious weirdoes are in, and I can hear then talking to each other: "Yes, god answered my prayers last night and told me what to do." If a person ask them about any history: the historic Herod, who actually was an evil dude and murdered members of his own family, or Constantine who changing the "Sabeth" from the seventh day to the first day of the week, they would be totally lost. They do not want any knowledge, that would disturb their fuzzy thoughts.
Maybe the first day, gave god the time to plan things- he should have done a better job of planing!! It is a hell of a mess.
I'm so sad that you feel this way....but I understand the confusion.
Do we support Israel or not?
We (U.S. Americans) have tolerated a financial support for over 70 years of this nation. We were the ones who set them up with submarine nuclear missiles.
We've sent them millions per day. (https://sgp.fas.org/crs/mideast/RL33222.pdf) They are responding to an obviously brutal terrorist attack by the Muslim-religion based "Hamas" but they are not right either..for "terrorizing" over 1000 people.
Sad and confusing what's going on there right now; but We Americans have built them up to be as arrogant as they are...
"To date, the United States has provided Israel $158 billion (current, or non- inflation-adjusted, dollars) in bilateral assistance and missile defense funding."...do the math; that's around $5 million per day since 1948.
