Some people say sarcasm is the lowest form of humor. Ever wonder if maybe they just don't get the joke?
I think it is one of the highest, it takes some intellect to get the joke.
Sarcasm presumes shared knowledge of some subject and the sarcastic remark is intended to ridicule or provoke laughter.....wit can be sarcastic or educational to the uninformed.....irony can be witty or ridiculous and expands beyond the subject at hand ....religious nuts know they are being insulted by Atheists sharing any word or more about their faith.....so they don't get it totally when I say : " prEyer always fails " more so when I spell it for them
A quote from Oscar Wilde is βSarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligenceβ
Eww, I like that!
Count on X to be kind to X, where X = βOscar Wildeβ or any other name you want.
Sarcasm works if you're there to hear inflection or to see the innuendo in the remark-maker's face...it just doesn't work well in written messages.
Takes skills~but I agree. Sometimes the audience
changes once stated.
Thank you. Personally, I believe it take an intelligent person to say and understand sarcasm.
Oh, you are my favourite person today.
