So, since my day job doesn't quite keep me in the lifestyle to which I've become accustomed, I'm forced to do a side hustle. It's being an Uber driver. It's good, because you can get paid right away. But...you do have to talk to people, which is from hard to impossible for me. Fortunately, you can do food delivery only, and that is what I have taken to do, even though it doesn't pay as much as taking people. I've told my friends who understand me, that it's MUCH easier dealing with a sack of hamburgers than with real live people. And if I'm in a situation where I need more money, I can always take people. But for this introvert, it's really great having the choice. Any of you all have a similar experience?

I've never used a rideshare but I would love to have a driver that didn't want to talk. "Where are you going and We're here" is all the conversation I would want. I would expect that there are others who would feel the same. Is there any way that you can advertise yourself as non-talker?

You could drive people and just be honest with the passengers. "Hey, I'm X. I'm not a big fan of small talk. I plan to leave you in peace to check your email, or do whatever, but I will try to answer questions if you have them." If they ask something too personal, you can always say, "Oh, I don't discuss that with people I don't know. " Maybe I am erroneously over-simplifying?

I call myself an introvert, but I'd much rather talk to a person than a hamburger. And I suspect you still get to talk to a person when delivering that cold burger and soggy fries... and maybe less pleasant. It's crowds that suck my energy. I love to make quick conversation with cashiers, haircutters, contractors and whomever I'm thrown-in with on a 1-to-1 basis for a short time. Most people have an interesting story if you can pry it out of them in the allotted time. Ya just have to never argue or disagree when driving someone! And just shut up if you sense that's their preference.

If he starts talking to the burgers then he's got way bigger issues than introversion!
