Interesting group..... I'm glad you're here.
My introversion mostly just causes me to get my energy from my own actions. I'm happiest when I'm doing things like gardening or hiking or outside in nature. I'm not very happy in large groups and it tires me out. I need lots of rest after things like mingling at parties. I'm pretty happy with this type of personality. If I know my limits and respect them I'm pretty positive and happy. So introversion isn't something I see as a problem. I have always felt that it's much more difficult to be an extrovert. You most likely need to get your energy from other people. I imagine that would make you feel very lonely when someone else isn't around. I don't usually get lonely even when I'm by myself.
But I'm reading a lot about Myers-Briggs. it appears there are several different personality types and they begin with being either introverted or extroverted. I have taken the tests many times and I am always an INFJ, which doesn't surprise me because I don't change very much. What you see is what you get with me. I am dating an INTP personality type. We are both introverts so very understanding of that trait. It gets a little trickier with the last two letters of our personality descriptions. FJ (feeling, judgemental) and TP (thinking, perceiving) react in extremely different ways. We seem to be constantly freaking each other out! Lol.
We are taking the time to learn about these differences and why we act as we do. We have become very accepting and understanding that we are extreme examples of rare types of personalities. Rather than saying, "I don't understand why you react as you do." we are asking, "Can you explain what that means in a little more detail?" And things seem to be developing very nicely. Coming from a place of love and respect helps us further define the boundaries as we learn about the unknown.
He will never be able to define his feelings as much as I can, and I will always have to give him logical information to accompany my endless intuition.... And we move forward like Spock dating Rosanna Rosannadanna.
IT'S AAAAAAALWAYS SOMETHING.....

Welcome to the group, SukiSue. I'm an INTJ. I always felt like there was something wrong with me because I hate socializing, but learning that I'm an introvert helped me to understand why I'm "different" from friends who are "party animals".
Thanks!
What a great explanation! I'm an INTJ and understand myself fairly well. It's quite discouraging to understand that many people do not buy into the system.
