How's your Winter Garden looking?

A beautiful sunny day and good rain a week ago has resulted in a splash of colour in the winter garden. It needs a good tidying. I've also taken a couple of snaps including my permanent visitors and colours.

And today back to untypical grey clouds -

Figures you must be down under to be talking about winter. So do you get a balmy winter or does it snow where you are? Given the fires there and in California I think we may start wishing winter would last longer.

Nice photos! Looks like the tree dahlias like you.

Lol. Dahlias like the position but have their flowers turned to the sun! 😁Go figure!

It can snow 40klms away in the mountains but here on the river plain we are very much in rain shadow only getting average 15" rain per year and temperatures -4°C. to 45°C through the year. Currently 11am-ish in the morning and, for me, a cold 17°C. Balmy starts at 25°C.
Good luck with your fire season. Here we stagger from fire to flood to drought and it has been that way for thousands of years.

I have some good Peonies growing. Bigger head, but fewer blooms. Maybe a little depressed.

This is what my winter garden typically looks like but my spring garden is already kicking it up into high gear.

That's quite a spade that you have parked there.

I decided over ten years ago that my body could no longer stand winters like yours.

@FrayedBear my body agrees with your body. lol It's amazing what you can do with the right tools though, you can move a lot of snow in a hurry when you have a 1 yard bucket on a 10 ton backhoe.

@Surfpirate Ad the backhoe is good for turning the ground into vegie beds.
The farmers round here do that for their misses's home garden vegie patches.

The no till brigade just spray, seed and mulch with a 30 ton load of hen shit at a time.

Winter's a distant memory here. Anyway, we barely get a smattering of light freezes. Last was at the end of February. Nice photos!
