I've had a garden forever and believe it or not this is the first time I have ever seen a yellow garden spider in it.

There may soon be new babies because this is the lady spiders mate.

The big score for me was the couple of times I saw a Humming Bird Hawk Moth in the garden. They may be so common with you that you think nothing of them, but here in the UK they are something special.

I used to feed mine the insects that I picked off my plants. She was extremely efficient, would come out, quick wrap, inject, then fully wrap the offender. The next morning the case was gone and she was full. This went on for several years through successive generations.

My Insect ID app on my phone calls this a "yellow garden spider" It's in the "orb weaver" family (Argiope) and has been given a scientific name of Argiope aurantia. The app is called "PictureInsect" but you don't need to buy a fancy version...the free one works fine....unless you're an entomologist!

I used Google lens to come up with the yellow garden spider name.
