This year has proved great for my plum tree. Once a sucker from a tree in Seattle now with 6 grafts. It is so heavily laden branches had to be tied to the main stem to keep the branches from breaking. There are 2 varieties, Seneca and Valor, both Italian, free-stone, sweet plums.

There is nothing so sweet as fruit ripened on the tree. Do you plan on making jam or something similar? Or do you have lots of grateful neighbors? 😊

These will not be for the community (there are no close neighbors). I normally can them but with so many some will be dried, some canned, some baked in a cake(s). There are lots of thing one can do with plums and I even once had canned some using a savory recipe.

@JackPedigo plum jam!

@freeofgod Thank you. I've done that in the past but many recipes call for running the fruit through a food mill and I hate to waste the valuable skins. Besides, I like to can and have done so for several decades. Right now I have over 3 dozen pints, half pints of fruit preserves. If I make some cakes or cobbler I will post some pictures.
