I am a gonzo gardener, and am already harvesting tomatoes and basil, a new early record! I have real squash bug problems, however; the diatomaceous earth is not working for me, and chemicals are a no-go. As satisfying as squishing them is, I can't stay up all nigh with a flash light in my gloved hands again. Anybody know any reliable organic remedies?

You can buy bait traps for them, or put up that sticky bug tape.
If you have an infestation already underway, it's pretty unlikely that you will stop it with diatomaceous earth or companion planting.
You might consider pyrethrins (which are the same insecticides they put in lice shampoo) to get the squash bugs under control.
