Dropped off a case of beer to the tree guys today. And they dumped off another load of wood chips. So we decided to get the deep wood chip bedding done in the chicken and duck pen. But kept getting rained out. So this is all we got done all day. But we did make a big dent to the pile of wood chips. I know this doesn’t look like a garden post. But this is where next year’s garden is going to be the ducks and chickens are helping me build the soil.
Apart from the cases of beer do they come free? Our local supply centre charges a fair amount for chips and of course buying it plastic bagged is ridiculous.
Yes completely free. They were clearly the power lines of tree limbs not far from my house. So I stopped and told them if they need a place to dump I’d be happy to let them dump them off at my place. If someone doesn’t ask them to dump at it heir house they have to pay to dump them in the land fill. The beer was just a thank you from me. Plus it help to freeze the palms a little. $27 worth of good Mexican is well worth 3 large truck loads of chips. I even put it in a old cooler I clean up with a bag of ice. They even dropped off the old cooler with the last load of chip. Plus now when I need chips again I bet I get put back at the top of the list.
I’d be willing to bet I got close to 30 yards if not more of wood chips. For the cost of some beer. And if hey seemed really happy too.
@Donto101 Well worth being friendly. I once got about three cu metres of concrete when they were laying footpaths. I made a beautiful big pond, barrow load by barrow load, and the next silly bastards owning the house filled it in.
