This type of tropical gardening seems very foreign to me, sigh, life in the North.

I was just thinking about getting into some banana “trees” (and ice cream banana specifically) I would live to hear about any tips/tricks/pitfalls you come across.

Thanks!

They are almost to east to grow. But they are heavy feeders and drinkers. If they don’t get feed they will not produce. I feed mine a lot of compost organic matter. Coffee grounds are great. Hardwood ash is great for them they need lots of potassium. If you use chemical fertilizers 666 works good. I only leave to or three one or two growing with the mother and separate the younger newest pups after they get 3 or 4 leaves on them. And make sure you plant them where they get plenty of sun but are protected from high winds.
