Exactly. They’re part of the cowpea family, like blackeyed peas.
I had no peas this year. I blame it on the surprisinglly hot spring. Next year, I'll start them in the snow! I do not see peapods here.

You’re thinking of garden peas, but these are more like blackeyed peas, a variety of cowpeas. Look closer; the vines are covered up with pods. 
My sugar snaps didn’t do well this year. I’m blaming it on the heat.
Heat destroys peas - tough to get a spring long enough to get a harvest here most years. I just planted them in fall one year. They grew ok then went wild come spring - so for mild winter regions, this could work well
@skado I know field peas only as legunesl have never seen them grow.
