Years ago in New Orleans, my entire side yard was filled with banana "trees." They are lovely--in summer. In winter they are a holy nightmare. (Yes, I said "holy," as in how nightmarish religion can be.)
With the slightest frost, they die back to the ground and have to be cut up and hauled away. They are a royal slimy mess of a plant. And the juice from the cut plants permanently stains.

I did get occasional bunches of bananas, which was great, except people kept stealing them just as they'd be ready to harvest. I never even tasted one.

But that was New Orleans. You, enjoy!

They will have to get past my 165 pound mastiff Great Dane mix to get to my bananas

@Donto101 great! I needed one of those. ?

Bananas in 80 days??? I thought for a brief moment you were referring to mid-term elections. Then I realized this is the Garden Group. 🙂
(I promise, that was not a political comment)

it's amazing how fast the banana trees grow . My neighbors have one that was just peeking over the fence earlier this spring , now it's approaching the roof of their two story .

So cool! And they'll taste better for being grown by you.
