Does this vine look familiar to anyone? It came up volunteer in back and has spread up the back fence. It has had blooms, which I haven't caught on camera. It appears the blooms are similar to bindweed but the leaves are wrong. I've not seen the blooms expanded, only in bud and after folding in the evening. No sign of any "fruit" of the bloom.

OK, got out there this morning, cleaning the yard and that thing is certainly a morning glory. It was loaded with blue/ lavender blooms. Smaller than the domestic(?) morning glories but the shape was unmistakable. I'll try to remember to go out and get a picture tomorrow morning. By afternoon they have all folded. Then I'll pull it out as I don't want to be overrun by it next year.

Certainly some variety of morning glory. If you like it, keep it, but don't hesitate to cut it back aggressively. If you don't like it... Well, good luck; you may need to use a chemical herbicide.

Cut it down and dig it out before it covers everything. I have seen acres of eucalypt forest covered in the nasty stuff.

Whatever happened to those sweet , lovely morning glory vines people planted intentionally? The ones with the big, bright blue flowers, the ones that didn't create havoc wherever they grew. I suppose this means of any of the blooms have gone to seed already, I can expect to have 200 of these next spring.

@DotLewis more than likely.

According to Pl@ntnet it is probabably the dreaded morning glory Wikipedia - Ipomoea indica[3] is a species of flowering plant in the family Convolvulaceae, known by several common names, including blue morning glory, oceanblue morning glory, koali awa, and blue dawn flower.
