I picked up some Ecuadorean banana looking things at the store to give them a try. I must have done something wrong. THe fruit tasted like the peel and was so acerbic I couldnt swallow it says a person who can eat almost anythig without question

Sounds like you picked up Plaintain’s instead of bananas. You have to cook them to eat them.

@Donto101 that is what I was thinking but didnt have the energy to look up plantain recipes.My compost worms are loving them n ow

We have banana trees in ky. That's how hot our temps have became. Sometimes they, and elephant ears, will live through the winters. I left one out for five years and it kept coming back.

@btroje , I should specify western ky. If you get up in north or east of us they probably have cooler weather.
