Article on little known facts about roses. (Actually, I already knew some of these, ?)
[gardenista.com]
Check this out.
Just LOOK at the girth of that trunk!!!
A lot of good information. I have roses and really like them. Problem is I also have a lot of other flowering plants and a life (sometimes).
Yeah, Darn that life thing! I can't wait til I can retire, so I can putter with my garden all day. I WILL be one of those little old men in a straw hat for shade. ?
There is nothing more exciting than to get the David Austin Rose Book that arrives in the middle of winter. have been pl;anning a new rose bed. Must start saving money . Each of his roses costs $27 or more. This spring I am buying two more Reine de Violette to make a planting of three. Their fragrance is wonderful.Growing roses is one of my more expensive addictions, harmful only to the pocketbook.
Thank you for the great article.
Great to hear. I know over the years I have spent a few thousand. It creeps up on you.
BTW, you love Austins. I have grown increasingly fond of Kordes roses from Germany. Their hybridizing program has been crushing it in the disease resistance department. ?
@MikeInBatonRouge Mike, i have at least six Cordes roses in my garden. I buy tyhem at Aldi's for one thiord of the price of Austin roses. And they are German roses- true to the fatherland.!
Everything looks better in three or more!
@Alvinsmama I not only plant in odd numbers (unless I have a bunch of them, and then who's counting), but do almost everything in odd numbers. It's a way to drive people crazy!
My Roses are back to normal, like if nothing happened to them.
Go figure
Glad to hear!
