I thought I would share one of my orchids. I bought this one this past December. It was already flowering but it is continuing to bloom - I may need to find a stronger, better way to hold it up. It is starting to pull the current 'stick' over. The other one (slightly blurry) is my 1st orchid- it is almost 2 years old and this is the first time it has bloomed since the original blooms fell off.
Anyone else do orchids?

Beautiful! I got one to bloom 3 yrs in a row, then it just went down hill and I couldn't save it. I have no clue as to what happened

No way

@Heidi68 some plants, I just have a time with. Some I am magic with. I don't question it, I just learn which ones I shouldn't be left alone with.

@glennlab I should try your theory except then I wouldn't have roses. And I will win this battle ?

@Heidi68 Roses are a lot of work if they are done right, I don't have the patience that they require, plus with my traveling they would get neglected too often.

@glennlab I can't travel a lot right now so I have plenty of time to let roses try my patience ?

do you water them with ice cubes? that's how they do it here in Iowa

nogod Level 7 Mar 30, 2019

No. Several below do it that way. I water once a week.

I bought my mum on last year she still has it to this day and takes care of it, she just has a small cane keeping it up

I have a bunch of common orchids at get at the local walmart. I am amazed at how hardy they are and how long the blooms last

btroje Level 9 Mar 30, 2019

I work at Lowes so I am starting to collect them.... probably not gonna end well for me.

@Heidi68 just don't water them a lot

@btroje once a week and fertilize once a month

@Heidi68 do you water with ice cubes? That's what mine said to do and it's lived through a transplant to a larger container.

@Heidi68 I am not even that meticulous. I just wait till they are dry. I started working the icecube thing

@RavenCT, @btroje I have already had to transplant both of them. Mine are potted with bark and it is usually dry each week.

@Heidi68 Hey you are doing well then! Getting to hrough a transplant is a big deal. A fella here directed me to good instructions and mine lived this time. I was pleased. ??

@RavenCT I am winging it so I am pleased with the results - so far. I saw one today that I will probably be bringing home tomorrow. White petals with dark purple splotches.
