In Fla they sometimes build in 'former' swamps. That means the property doesn't drain! ??? They forgot about the hurricanes!

I built on high ground with good drainage around us. Plus we’re protected by the NW winds. It’s not brain surgery.

I will always check to see if the place I am looking at is on a flood plain! Also if there are mining rights beneath me! Next town over has mines running all through it!

I used to get a kick when I lived in Houston when they would build subdivisions in old rice fields, then bitch about them flooding.

That's hysterical.

It is to some - especially economists and - you know who (I can't even bear to say his name).

I had my real estate agent check for flood plains , before I even looked at properties . We removed several potential properties from the list , before even going to look at places . The one I bought was o the 500 year flood plain . Fortunately for me , the house does not flood , however the street in front of my house does . The lower half of my mail box was under water , when Hurricane Harvey came through .

You should see the mess here - when 'designing' this area they decided to cover a dry creek bed (with a parking lot & buildings). Guess what is no longer dry... Idiots!
