(Crossposting because I don't see any groups that mention chickens)

Yardbird question, in case anyone here knows about such things...

Once a rooster is removed from the flock, how long before any fertilized eggs are not his?

Thanks 🙂

Thanks. I guess I could have googled it. Maybe I was just wondering if there were others here with free range flocks

We had hens before but never a rooster because we didn't want fertilized eggs.

I do want fertilized eggs because I want more chickens

I'd venture a guess as two weeks. But that begs the question is there another rooster you want fertilizing the eggs?

Yes. My Jersey Giant is a sweet gentle roo and I'd like any younguns to be his. The "mix" roo otoh is beautiful but not as friendly to humans or hens.

Hi neighbor.

Oh, boro, not ville. I get them mixed up.
