All four gooseberry bushes are planted. Since they are only 6 inch tall, I put them in 8 inch pots so i can move them around this season. Will have to decide whether to find their permanent place in the garden or overwinter them on the back porch. After one season, the thorns will be strong enough to draw blood, so replanting will be necessary. Either that or garden with mtorcycle gloves!
I stilll have not found a source for red currants. Maybe in the fall.

Watch out for the dreaded Gooseberry Saw fly. It will devour the leaves. Maybe this will help [en.bestinsectkiller.com]
I need to watch it as well as I have 3 Gooseberries. One year my partner and I donned gloves and went from leave to leaf squashing the little buggers. Took care of the problem for 2 years but they did return.

Thank you, jackPedigo. That is solid information. I saved the pages.

@Spinliesel So what will you use the Gooseberries for? I make them into preserves and mix in Raspberries and, last year, even Aronia berries.
