I have another question about seeds.
My Prunus serotina (Wild Cherry) finally fruited in earnest and i harvested 20 seeds. How would i best scarify prior to stratification?
Can i stratify dry or to they need to be in soil (wet stratify)? Im looking to start some trees for next year while avoiding contamination with jumping worm.
Im in WI.

I always dried seed then sealed them in a clean jar. I had a burning bush seed. Planted it the next year and it grew. Many things come from years of experimenting. Nothing lost. Possible benefits. I loved experimenting 🙂

My experiment is to bury them in a flat, covered to keep the critters out and overwinter them that way.
Then I'll retrieve them in Spring, thaw them out and plant them in gallon pots. I'll give away saplings at my annual Milkweed giveaways, along with Pearly Everlasting and other goodies.
I'm just wondering if the pits need manual scarification first

@Leafhead It was a star magnolia seed. Grew a new bush.
