Some of what's going on in my garden : I don't know what the red berries are , but I suspect they may be poisoness because neither the squirrels nor the birds eat them . The tiny white flowers are also unknown growing on a bush that was part of the landscape when I moved in here . The tiny blue flowers are a ground cover I put in last year , called Mexican Morning Glories - love the way they spread and they seem to bloom year round . Planted some pink Creeping Phlox around the base of an Azalea bush , next to the house . While they made great ground cover in Maryland , I think they are in too much shade and seem faded and not exhuberently spreading here . The mauve flowers are Wood Sorrel and I believe they're related to Clover . While I love these little dainties , I'm reasonably certain the HOA would consider them weeds /
Nice collection. But the Wood Sorrel, ( Oxalis ) is almost certainly a weed, nearly all of them are, and they can be really hard to get out once established, do keep a very careful eye on it and be prepared to move quickly if you think it may become a problem. This one, the Bermudan Buttercup, though very pretty, is a world wide ecological disaster, spreading everywhere at the expense of rare natives in just about every warm dry country in the world.
There's a phone app...free...called "plant snap" you take close up pics of the plant you need to ID and they suggest what it is.
I am envious as we still winter like weather here, with only the smallest signs of spring.
